Jan Looking Wolf Reibach

An enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde (Kalapuya) who lives near his reservation, Jan Looking Wolf is a nationally known Native American Flute recording artist and performer with 17 CDs and 3 DVDs released on multiple record labels earning 46 Award Recognitions and a top ten ranking in the national new age charts.

Traveling a broad range of musical styles with the Native American Flute, he bacame the first in history to win for Flutist of the Year at the prestigious Native American Music Awards (NAMMYS) and the Indian Summer Music Awards (ISMA) for his solo traditional native flute CD “UNITY” in 2008. Following, he won for Artist of the Year (2009), Record of the Year (2010) and Best Music Video (2011) at the NAMMYS.

One Heart: A Message of Unity for All People
Jan Looking Wolf’s lifeway and musical expressions are based on the Native American Tradition of “One Heart.” In short, it is a truth that we are equal regardless of the color of our skin, tribal affiliation, language we speak, income, gender, faith, nationality or personal beliefs. “One Heart” is the recognition of Unity through Diversity. Jan frequently performs at non-profit events nation-wide and his music has been used for several non-profit projects.

Courses at Oregon State University
After facilitating workshops and completing a vast amount of Native American Flute research, Jan began instructing courses in 2005 at Oregon State University in Native American Music with an emphasis on cultural diversity. It is estimated that he has taught over 5,000 people how to play the Native American Flute (combined university courses and workshops).

His Path of Healing
In spring of 1994, Jan suffered two large strokes from a very rare genetic enzyme disorder and had blood clots pass through his brain and heart, causing bleeding in the lungs. As a result he was paralyzed on the entire left side of his body for nearly a year. He received a miraculous healing and recovered 100%.
