The High Spirits Double Condor Bass Flute in the key of "E" is a Double Bass flute with an amazingly full and resonant voice. We recommend them for those that have experience playing the Native Flute or other wind instruments. With a double flute you play the melody on one side and the other side provides the drone in the root note of the flute - it sounds like two people are playing.
Our Double Flutes have two mouthpieces so you can play it as a double flute or a single flute instantly, without adjustments. Our style is unique and generates good amplitude (volume) and the drone side plays the low and high octaves easily.
It is a 6-hole flute, we cover the 3rd hole from the top of the flute (known as the 6th hole) with a leather tie, giving the option to use it as a 6-hole or a 5-hole flute. It is easier to learn on a 5-hole flute.
This flute is 23 inches long x 9.25 inches at its widest point (58 cm long x 24 cm at its widest point).
Crafted from Spanish cedar, a soft wood, the flute is sealed with non-toxic oils which give it a warm, resonant and full voice. What may look like a check line is actually a natural grain line in the wood of your flute. Spanish cedar has naturally-occurring dark lines in the grain which are often mistaken for cracks. If your flute is crafted out of Spanish cedar, please watch this video to help you distinguish between check lines and wood grain.
We offer the option of adding three fingering holes to the drone-side of the flute (the three low notes). We cover these holes with removable leather ties so you can change the drone note, adding another level of flexibility to this already diverse flute.
Modify your double flute with drone-side holes for an additional: $45.00
Each flute (excluding our Pocket Flute & Eagle Bone Ocarina) automatically includes Odell's FREE 'How-To-Play' Instructional Materials which comes with: printed instructional booklet with fingering charts as well as an instructional DVD with both Odell's Beginner and Intermediate tutorial videos.
