Sparrow Hawk "A" - Aromatic Cedar

Our Sparrow Hawk flute in the key of 'A' minor is one of our most popular flutes. It's easy to play making it ideal for any first time player. It's handcrafted from a single piece of sustainable, domestic Aromatic Cedar, a softwood with a warm, full, resonant, musical voice.

Our flutes are sealed with non-toxic oils the preserve and amplify the flutes tonal qualities. This flute is tuned in the key of "A" minor but can also be played in the relative major diatonic scale in the key of "C". It is approximately 19-inches (48 cm) long.

Aromatic Cedar has a range of colors from ginger orange to burgundy red, it can also showcase sap wood which is yellow color in Aromatic Cedar.

For over 30-years we have been crafting flutes from single pieces of Aromatic Cedar and in the process we have become adept at choosing planks with natural characteristics to turn into incredible sounding flutes, including those with many knots in the wood.  We are experts at a technique called Turquoise Accent, which fills small cosmetic wood knots in Aromatic Cedar.

This is a six-hole flute. We cover the third hole from the top of the flute (known as the sixth hole) with a leather tie, which give the player the option of using it as a six-hole or a fix-hole flute.

Each flute is eligible for our free "Beginner/Intermediate How-To-Play" instruction, which includes an instructional booklet with fingering charts and DVD.
