The High Spirits Double Condor Bass Drone Flute in the key of "D" is crafted from domestic Aromatic Cedar, a softwood. The flute is sealed with non-toxic oils, which give it a warm, resonant and full voice.
The voice of our our double bass flutes is incredibly full and resonant. With a double flute you play the melody on one side and the other side provides the drone in the root note of the flute, which creates the sound of two people playing.
Our Double Flutes have two mouthpieces so you can play it as a double flute or a single flute instantly, without adjustments. Our style is unique and generates good amplitude (volume) and the drone side plays the low and high octaves easily.
The Condor Bass 'D' double flute is tuned in the key of "D" minor and makes a great accompanying flute to our high-tone Kestrel Flute in the key of "D". It is 25.5-inches in length and 9.75-inches at its widest point (65 cm long x 25 cm wide.)
We generally recommend our double bass flutes to those who have experience playing larger native flutes or for those with experience playing one of our single bass flutes.
It is a 6-hole flute, we cover the 3rd hole from the top of the flute (known as the 6th hole) with a leather tie, giving the option to use it as a 6-hole or a 5-hole flute. It is easier to learn on a 5-hole flute.
