The High Spirits Red Tail Hawk in the key of "G" minor has a soothing, melodic voice. Because it is deeper in tone than the Sparrow Hawk "A", first time players are attracted to this key.
Crafted from domestic, aromatic cedar, a softwood, this wooden flute is sealed with non-toxic oils which give it a warm, resonant and full voice. It is inlaid with turquoise cabochons which add to the natural beauty of the flute and enhance the functional art quality of the instrument.
The Red Tail Hawk flute is a good accompaniment flute for the Contra Bass "G" flute and the Pocket Flute in the key of "G". Being a very versatile key, it plays well with other instruments and works well with many different styles of music expression - Native style, romantic, blues, jazz, etc...
This flute is best for those with medium to larger hands.
The flute is tuned in the key of "G" minor and can also be played in the relative major diatonic scale in the key of "A♯"/"B♭".
This is a six hole flute. We automatically include a leather hole cover with this flute, which can be used on the third hole from the top of the flute, as seen in the product's images. Covering the third hole from the top makes the flute easier to learn to play. The leather hole cover can easily be untied and removed, giving the flute player the option of playing the instrument as either a five hole flute or a six hole flute.
This flute is 21.25 inches (about 54 cm) long.
Each flute is eligible for our free "Beginner/Intermediate How-To-Play" instruction, which includes an instructional booklet with fingering charts and DVD.
