Our Spirit Flute in the key of high 'D' minor is made from Madrone, which is a hardwood that offers excellent, clear, defined sound quality. All Spirit Flutes feature a unique fixed sound-plate design that is very durable that's not easily dislodged, which makes them great for travel. This flute is approximately 11-inches (29 cm) long.

This flute is tuned to the key of "D" minor, and it can also be played in the relative major diatonic scale in the key of "F". The Spirit Flute high 'D' is the highest octave flute that we make in the key of 'D' minor.

Our high-tone flutes are a great instrument for drum circles because their higher pitch allows them to stand out among beautifully amongst lower-tone instruments. The key of 'D' is often recognized because it is the primary musical key of Penny Whistles, which adds to this flute's versatility for pairing with other instruments and musical styles.

This is a six hole flute. We automatically include a leather hole cover with this flute, which can be used on the third hole from the top of the flute, as seen in the product's images. Covering the third hole from the top makes the flute easier to learn to play. The leather hole cover can easily be untied and removed, giving the flute player the option of playing the instrument as either a five hole flute or a six hole flute.
