Butterflies abound here in Patagonia. Like the numerous birds that migrate here, butterflies find this to be an ideal haven. When we dedicated and designed this Signature Flute to the butterfly world, the Monarch stood out for its beauty and amazing population that vacation here.
Like most butterflies, the Monarchs are attracted to colorful, scented flowers and plants. The engraved floral designs on this flute feature Spiny Oyster Shell cabochons. Because of their unique beauty and colors, shells such as these have been highly prized for centuries by many indigenous tribes throughout the Americas.
As all of High Spirits Signature Flutes, the Monarch Flute has a consistently clear, even voice. It is created from aromatic cedar that gives the flute the ideal balance between the full, warm resonance of the low notes and the clear and sweet voice of the high notes.
We continually strive to improve our flute designs and to craft instruments that are responsive, have superior tonal quality and exceptional amplitude. In this ongoing quest we developed a new airflow combination that minimizes the amount of turbulence going through the flute. Utilizing this new airflow design we created the High Spirits Signature Series making these flutes very responsive and requiring very little breath, allowing for greater breath control. We use a 1-inch (2.5 cm) diameter bore for the Signature Flutes, which gives them more amplitude (volume) and accounts for the full melodic depth their voice creates.
The Monarch flute is a functional art piece. We highly recommend displaying it on a flute stand. Not only will this show it off in your home or office, it will inspire you to play more often.
Tuned in the key of “A” minor this flute can also be played in the relative major diatonic scale in the key of "C".
It is hand polished to a fine finish with several layers of non-toxic oils.
This flute is 20 inches (51 cm) long with a 1-inch (2.5 cm) bore diameter.
