We love wood. Its wondrous diversity of colors, patterns, scents and textures captures our senses. When a new piece of wood comes into the workshop we are like little kids on Christmas morning, unbearably excited to play with it, work, shape and finish it into a beautiful piece of art. We can't wait to hear its sweet voice.
When the raw Quilted Maple that made these flutes came into the workshop we were especially jazzed because the wood looks plain and unassuming in its raw form, but we knew the treasures that were to come. Once finished the intricate grain patterns and lovely pearling colors of the Quilted Maple did not disappoint us, every flute we created with it has a rich, unique, special character and a sweet clear voice.
Being such a lovely wood we added the Quilted Maple flutes to our Nature's Art Signature Series. The design elements on the Nature's Art flutes are purposely kept to a minimum so that nature's creative artistry can be featured.
That said, we highly recommend displaying your flute on a flute stand. Not only will this show it off in your home, office, or wherever you play, having it in a visible location will inspire you to play more often.
Being a Signature Series flute, the Quilted Maple flute has wonderfully clear high notes and warm full low notes. Very little breath pressure is needed to play it. This feature allows more control of the notes and playing techniques. It has a strong voice and is extremely responsive, giving the player an intimate connection with each note.It is hand polished to a fine finish with several layers of non-toxic oils.
