Our Crow Flute in the key of "A" minor is handcrafted from Ebonized domestic Walnut, a hardwood. The Crow has a very special musical tonal quality because of the Ebonize Walnut wood flute body.
The Crow flute goes through a time-consuming, multi-step process that involves being ebonized multiple times and then repeatedly sealed with coats of non-toxic oil, to create the final high-gloss look and finish along with an enhanced tonal voice.
The flute is then completed with decorative Turquoise cabochons and Kyanite stone eyes to enhance the natural beauty of the instrument and adding to its character as both a musical instrument and a piece of functional artwork.
The flute is keyed in the key of "A" minor and can also be played in the relative major diatonic scale in the key of "C". This flute is ~19 inches (48 cm) long.
More About Ebonized Walnut -
Ebonizing was a process used frequently in the early 20th century. It was invented to make furniture that looked similar to real Ebony wood without the actual cost of that rare and highly-prized wood. Unlike staining, ebonizing penetrates deep into the wood's fibers giving brown Walnut wood a similar look to that of black Ebony wood.
This is a six hole flute. We automatically include a leather hole cover with this flute, which can be used on the third hole from the top of the flute, as seen in the product's images. Covering the third hole from the top makes the flute easier to learn to play. The leather hole cover can easily be untied and removed, giving the flute player the option of playing the instrument as either a five hole flute or a six hole flute.
