Our Preservation Double Kestrel Signature Flute in the key of high 'D' minor is handcrafted from domestic Aromatic Cedar wood, a premier tonal wood that creates an ideal musical voice that is a balance between clarity on the high notes, and warm fullness on the low notes.

The Kestrel's flute engravings are inlaid with Turquoise cabochons, The body of the flute is meticulously shaped, sanded, and finished with several coats of non-toxic Tung Oil.

Our double flutes have two mouthpieces so you can easily switch back and forth playing them as a double flute or a single flute. This unique A-Frame body style helps to generate good amplitude.

Double flutes are as easy to play as the single flutes, they take just a little bit more breath. One flute plays the melody on the side with the fingering holes and the other flute (without fingering holes) provides the drone which can play the low as well as the high octave of the particular key; allowing it magically sound like two people are playing.
