Odell recently interviewed musician, David Rose, by email to learn more about his music and his background. Here is what David shared with Odell: 

In what part of the world do you live?

I live in Elizabethtown, PA

What is your musical background?

My musical background is in guitar,percussion,keyboards, and flutes. I attended Harrisburg Area Community College where I got my diploma in Music Technology and Marketing.  

Are you a professional musician, or do you have a different day job?

I’m professional musician and do session work.  I am also a recording engineer and I work in my home studio. 

What is your heritage?

My heritage is Mexican/Indian on my mother's side and I am Choctaw/Cherokee, and Irish on my father's side of the family.

What inspired this particular song, and what High Spirits Flute are you playing on this track?

I was hired by Dan Kennedy to record flute on several tracks for his project: BLOOM ROAD; I used a High Spirits flute in the key of ‘G’ on the song: "Sweet Rain".

How would you best describe your music’s genre?

I play a wide variety of genres, including traditional and contemporary music. 

Do you travel to perform your music in public? In what areas do you perform?

In my previous band, we toured and played most of the major flute festivals in the U.S. for several years. Now I am more focused on local and tri-state music venues. 

Do you have any specific message that you would like to spread with your music?

Yes, that it is important to find your own voice as a musician. 

Who are your most important musical influences?

R. Carlos Nakai, Robin Trower, Toni Iommi of Black Sabbath, and Steve Roach.

What is your family life; are you married and do you have children?

I live with my wife Cindy and our two cats in Elizabethtown, PA. I have two sons that live in Pennsylvania too.  I also have a young grandson who has a strong interest in music.
