Our Wolf Pack Double Signature Flute in the key of 'A' minor with drone-holes added is handcrafted from domestic Aromatic Cedar softwood, a premier tonal wood that creates an ideal balanced musical voice that is both clear on the high notes and warm and full on the low notes.
The added three holes on the drone-side of this double flute allows for expanded musical range in the flute's musical flexibility and tonal diversity. Removable leather hole covers are included for each of the drone-side fingering holes, which allows you to easily change the drone's root note. We love double flutes because of how magical they are in the way that they can sound like two people playing the flute together. All our Signature Series flutes utilize a unique airflow design that provides exceptional responsiveness and player control, superior amplification, which makes them ideal for a wide range of musical styles and players.
Tuned in the key of "A" minor, this flute can also be played in the relative major diatonic scale in the key of 'C.' The flute is 20 inches (51 cm) long and at the widest part it is 7 inches (18 cm.)
The Wolf Pack's design motif is inspired by a collaboration between Odell and native musician Jan Looking Wolf. The flute's body is meticulously hand-shaped, finely sanded, hand-finished with non-toxic Tung Oil (which is FDA approved for food contact) that enhance the musical quality and the beauty of the flute's finish.
Our Double Flutes have two mouthpieces so you can easily switch back and forth playing them as a double flute or a single flute. Our unique A-frame body style helps to generate good sound amplification when playing the flute.
Double flutes are as easy to play as the single flutes but they do take a little bit more breath. One side of flute is the melody side (the one with the fingering holes) and the other side of the flute is the drone side of the flute (the one without the fingering holes.) The drone side of the flute has the ability to play the low and high octave of the flute's specific musical key.
Visit our High Spirits Center For Instruction for tips on how to play our double flutes; see our Double and Triple free video tutorials page. This flute also makes a great accompaniment flute for any of our other flutes in the key of “A” minor.
