Our Red Tail Hawk in the key of "G" minor has a soothing, melodic voice. Because it is deeper in tone than the Sparrow Hawk "A", first time players are attracted to this key.
Crafted from domestic walnut, a hardwood, the flute is sealed with non-toxic oils which give it a clear, bright voice - especially on the high notes. It is inlaid with turquoise cabochons which add to the natural beauty of the flute and enhance the functional art quality of the instrument.
Being a very versatile key, it plays well with other instruments and works well with many different styles of music expression - Native style, romantic, blues, jazz, etc...
The flute is tuned in the key of "G" minor and can also be played in the relative major diatonic scale in the key of "A♯"/"B♭". This flute is 21.25 inches (about 54 cm) long.
It is a 6-hole flute. We cover the 3rd hole from the top of the flute (known as the 6th hole) with a leather tie, giving you the option to use it as a 6-hole or a 5-hole flute.
