Our Kestrel Flute in the musical key of high 'D' minor is handcrafted from domestic Aromatic Cedar, which is a softwood that gives the flute a warm, full musical voice. Our Kestrel series is named after the American Kestrel (Falco sparverius) which is one of the smallest falcon birds found in North America, and one of our beloved fellow residents here in southern Arizona.

Aromatic Cedar is a wood that comes in a wide range of red tones, from ginger orange to burgundy red, to pale yellow sapwood.
The Kestrel 'D' is the highest octave flute that we make in the key of 'D' minor. It's makes a great accompaniment to any of our bass flutes also in the key of 'D'.
