Find the key you are playing Because the tonic note (the first note in a scale) is the second hole up in this scale (as opposed to the bottom hole) the key you are playing in changes when playing this scale or any scale that starts on the second hole up. Use the chart below or download it from the link above to find the key you are playing. Example: if your flute is in the key of "A", find the line for the key of "A" on the left and follow it to the right to the underlined letter. When you play this scale on a flute in the key of "A" you are playing in the key of "C". |
