Our Little Hawk flute in the key 'A' (440 Hz) is five-hole flute in the Pentatonic Minor Scale. The flute is handcrafted from a single piece of Poplar wood and features a Walnut wood block fetish that's wrapped with a dark brown leather tie.

The Pentatonic Scale is the oldest of musical scales, and as a five-hole flute it's a versatile woodwind instrument that can be played by a beginner with no musical experience, or a seasoned musician.

This is a wonderful flute because the Pentatonic Scale is harmonically connected requiring no musical theory. Though not limited to beginners, it is an ideal for any new flute player due to its 17-inch (44 cm) length which allows breath control to be easy.

The Little Hawk Flute can also be played in the Pentatonic key of 'C' major.

Poplar is a straight grain hardwood that is sometimes called Rainbow Poplar because depending on the piece of wood it can have green, grey, or even purple grain highlights.

This flute has a wonderful tonal voice that's easy to play and a beautiful piece of functional artwork. All our flutes are handcrafted in the mountains of southern Arizona and have been since 1990.
